    Salary:                    $40,000
      Position Overview: At the Tejano Center, and the Resolve program we believe in equitable access to justice, survivor-led solutions, and long-term healing. As a Victims Advocate, you’ll help shape a more responsive legal system for the most vulnerable, while working within a mission-driven, innovative team.The Victims Advocate – Legal Advocacy Focus plays a critical role in empowering survivors of crime, abuse, or trafficking by providing direct legal advocacy, system navigation, and emotional support. This position bridges the gap between survivors and the complex legal system, ensuring access to justice, rights, and resources.

    The ideal candidate is trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and passionate about social justice. They will work closely with survivors, law enforcement, attorneys, courts, and community partners to advocate for the legal rights and safety of clients.
      Key Responsibilities:  Legal Advocacy & System Navigation 
    • Assist clients in understanding their legal rights and options, including civil, criminal, immigration, and family law matters.
    • Support clients through court processes, including restraining orders, victim impact statements, and attending hearings.
    • Facilitate communication with legal professionals, including attorneys, public defenders, prosecutors, and legal aid.
    • Accompany clients to legal appointments and court hearings when appropriate.
      Case Management & Support 
    • Provide trauma-informed, survivor-centered advocacy and safety planning.
    • Conduct needs assessments and create individualized service plans focused on legal and protective needs.
    • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in client files and case management systems.
      Collaboration & Outreach 
    • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with legal service providers, law enforcement, and court personnel.
    • Represent the organization in multidisciplinary meetings, task forces, and legal advocacy coalitions.
    • Facilitate trainings or community outreach on victims’ rights and legal protections.
      Compliance & Reporting 
    • Ensure client confidentiality and adhere to all applicable state and federal regulations.
    • Collect data and contribute to program reports and grant compliance.
    • Stay informed on changes in laws and legal procedures impacting survivors.
      Qualifications:  Required: 
    • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Criminal Justice, Legal Studies, or related field (or equivalent lived/professional experience).
    • Minimum 2 years of experience in victim advocacy, legal services, or case management.
    • Strong knowledge of the criminal justice and/or civil legal systems.
    • Demonstrated ability to work with survivors of violence, trauma, or exploitation in a non-judgmental and culturally competent manner.
      Preferred: 
    • Bilingual (English/Spanish or other relevant language).
    • Familiarity with legal protections for victims of trafficking, domestic violence, sexual assault, or stalking.
    • Experience working in multidisciplinary or court-based settings.
      Working Conditions: Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment, including personal computer and peripherals
    Posture: Prolonged sitting. Occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
    Motion: Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse. Occasional reaching
    Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
    Environment: Frequently work prolonged or irregular hours. May require flexible hours including occasional evenings or weekends based on client needs or court schedules.Some travel required to courts, legal offices, or partner agencies.
    Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions. Maintain emotional control under stress.
