Position Summary:
IMG Academy’s Legal Division is seeking a dynamic and business-minded Counsel to join its growing team. In this role, you’ll support a suite of industry-leading digital platforms—NCSA, SportsRecruits, and IMGA+—by negotiating complex commercial agreements, advising on data privacy and regulatory compliance, and collaborating cross-functionally with product, IT, and marketing teams. This is a high-impact position where you’ll be a key legal partner to the business, providing practical guidance on technology transactions, privacy frameworks, and legal risk, all while contributing to the growth and innovation of our digital products.
Position Responsibilities
- Draft, review, negotiate, and administer a wide range of agreements (SaaS, technology licenses, vendor/service contracts, partnerships, sponsorships) while managing all contract- and document-management operations.
- Perform functions around Data Privacy.
- Provide clear, timely counsel on contract interpretation, enforcement, and ad hoc legal or privacy issues—always aligned with organizational goals.
- Advise product, marketing, IT, and operations teams—both domestically and internationally—on legal risks, data-privacy/governance (e.g., GDPR, CCPA), youth-sports regulations, and compliance policies, offering practical, growth-focused guidance in real time.
- Develop, implement, and maintain data-privacy policies and procedures, lead privacy impact assessments, and ensure ongoing compliance across all digital platforms (NCSA, SportsRecruits, and other products). Partner with IT and security teams to address data-protection controls and breach response.
- Create and refine policies to ensure a safe, compliant student-athlete environment; collaborate with IT and product teams on new features, enhancements, and privacy-by-design initiatives.
- Lead designated legal and privacy projects from inception through stakeholder management to completion, collaborating with the broader IMG Academy Legal Team on sports, entertainment, and data-governance matters.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Experience: 3–8 years in top-tier law firm and/or in-house roles focused on commercial, technology, and data-privacy law.
- Exceptional drafting, negotiation, and organizational capabilities; strong analytic and creative problem-solving skills.
- Deep understanding of domestic and international data-privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA, etc.), demonstrated experience conducting privacy impact assessments, and implementing privacy-by-design and data-protection controls.
- Excellent interpersonal skills—able to explain complex legal and privacy concepts clearly and quickly to non-legal stakeholders under tight timelines.
- Detail-oriented multitasker who can prioritize, meet deadlines, and produce high-quality work consistently.
- Practical, growth-oriented mindset coupled with the ability to translate legal and privacy advice into business-friendly solutions.
- Proactive, team-oriented and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
