The Associate Legal Counsel serves within the Legal Services Department of INTEGRIS Health, Inc. and provides legal support to all levels and groups within INTEGRIS Health to ensure compliance with laws and regulations established by federal, state, and local legislative bodies, regulatory agencies and courts.
The Associate Legal Counsel position requires development of healthcare law specific competencies, including a working knowledge of EMTALA, STARK, Anti-Kickback, HIPAA, fraud and abuse laws, and medical staff and physician employment matters. The position also requires development of contract drafting skills and an understanding of general corporate law, including real estate, transactional documents and processes, nonprofit governance, and labor and employment issues.

Responsibilities
The Associate Legal Counsel responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following categories:
Substantive Legal Responsibilities
- Develops knowledge of legal developments relevant to the operations of a hospital and medical group, including CMS Conditions of Participation, and what effect developments will have on INTEGRIS Health hospital entities, service lines, medical staff members, patients and clinical contractors.
- Conducts complex legal research and develops a high degree of analytical ability.
- Drafts, revises, and negotiates legal documents including notice letters, contracts, leases, corporate instruments, opinions, bylaws, policies/procedures.
- Interprets legal and regulatory guidance to evaluate problems and makes sound recommendations for resolution.
- Provides educational training to medical staff members, employees, and other INTEGRIS Health stakeholders on topics as determined to be beneficial to reducing organizational risk.
- Provides timely legal advice to leadership, medical staff leaders and committees, as well as to caregivers throughout INTEGRIS Health to inform them of legality of contemplated actions and to advise them to take appropriate action consistent with legal and ethical parameters to achieve the mission and vision of INTEGRIS Health.
- Maintains confidentiality of information of highly sensitive nature concerning healthcare, business, and employment matters.
- Develops ability to prioritize work based upon strategic importance, value, and risk to the organization.

- Exercises appropriate judgment regarding when to seek assistance from Senior Counsel and/or Deputy General Counsel.
- Seeks new challenges and new responsibilities to further the organization’s mission and goals.

Qualifications
- Strong academic credentials and analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school and admission to a state bar.
- Active Bar membership in current state of residence, in good standing, and ability to obtain Oklahoma bar membership within 12 months of commencement of employment.
- Demonstrated interest in health law.
- Excellent client-focused communication and organizational skills to manage diverse assignments and projects, exercise judgment and decision making in prioritization of multiple deadlines.
- Proven ability to analyze complex factual business and legal issues, determine relevant legal issues, and make recommendations or initiate action to achieve resolution (i.e. research, litigation, negotiation, and settlement).
- Ability to adhere to deadlines and work on multiple, simultaneous assignments.
- Ability to address multiple priorities in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English (verbal/written).
