Job Description

Location: Los Angeles

The Los Angeles office of Barnes & Thornburg LLP is seeking a Korean-speaking Labor and Employment Staff Attorney to support its growing practice. This role is ideal for an attorney interested in developing practical experience in employment litigation support and day-to-day advice and counseling matters, with a particular focus on serving Korean-speaking clients.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support attorneys in representing employers in employment-related disputes, with a focus on high-volume litigation support

  • Manage and execute discovery, including drafting and responding to document requests, interrogatories, and subpoenas

  • Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda, pleadings, and motion drafts

  • Assist with case management, fact development, and document review

  • Support employment advice and counseling matters, including providing day-to-day HR guidance to clients

  • Draft, review, and update employee handbooks, policies, and workplace documents

  • Translate and adapt employment policies and legal materials for Korean-speaking clients, ensuring compliance with U.S. and California law

  • Communicate directly with Korean-speaking clients on employment-related matters

  • Collaborate with attorneys and team members across offices

Required Qualifications:

  • Fluency in Korean required (reading, writing, and speaking)

  • 2+ years of experience in labor and employment or general litigation (law firm experience preferred)

  • Demonstrated experience or strong interest in employment advice and counseling and/or employee handbook drafting

  • Strong experience with litigation support, particularly discovery and written work product

  • Excellent legal writing, research, and analytical skills

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple assignments efficiently

  • Admission to the California Bar

Ideal Candidates Will:

  • Have experience supporting employment litigation on behalf of employers

  • Have experience drafting or reviewing employee handbooks or HR policies

  • Be interested in a non-partnership-track, high-impact support role within a busy practice

  • Demonstrate strong communication skills, particularly in working with Korean-speaking clients

  • Thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
