Position Overview:
We are seeking a Corporate/Litigation Paralegal in our Seattle office. This position is a regular part-time position at a minimum of 23 hours and a maximum of 37 hours per week. This role prepares legal documents, correspondence and timelines under the direction of attorney(s). Coordinate and track case activities. Develop and implement appropriate systems for collecting and organizing case materials. Observe confidentiality of client and firm matters. This position supports attorneys who practice in transactional: corporate, commercial real estate, probate and estate, wills and trusts, and litigation: insurance coverage, torts, professional liability, and construction defect. This position requires 1,200 billed hours annually and has the potential for remote work up to 2 days per week, based on business need.

This position generally involves recurring work situations with occasional variation from average to moderate complexity. The employee must perform all duties with minimal supervision. Overtime might occur during periods of high workload.
Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following:
- Select, implement and maintain appropriate systems for collecting and organizing case materials.
- Review and analyze case materials, including correspondence, pleadings and other case documents and records; undertake all aspects of evidence management.
- Draft and prepare a variety of legal documents, correspondence, chronologies and indices.
- Prepare and oversee the preparation of exhibits and witness files for depositions, arbitration, mediation and trial.
- Interact with clients, experts and other parties to obtain and provide information.
- Establish and maintain database (document and discovery) structure and criteria, if appropriate.
- Use timekeeper software to appropriately bill for all time worked.
- Monitor and maintain corporate records, including preparation of annual and special meeting minutes, amend Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws, prepare stock transfers.
- Prepare Articles of Incorporation, Certificates of Formation, Bylaws, minutes of organizational meeting, stock subscriptions, stock certificates, license applications, IRS filings, and perform legal research.
- Receive, review and distribute mailings from Washington and foreign states for corporations.
- Prepare and coordinate the completion and filing of annual reports.
- Coordinate qualifying process in foreign states.
- Prepare UCC financing/termination statements, coordinate completion and filing documents with the Washington Department of Licensing, Department of Revenue, and other foreign jurisdictions.
- Prepare documents for corporate mergers and dissolutions.
- Research trademark availability. Prepare Washington State trademark applications and renewals.
- Perform online database search and retrieval – corporate and litigation research.
- Maintain corporate database; update stock records.
- Serve as Secretary of WKG, Inc. and work associated with acceptance of service of process.
- Assist the Business Real Estate Transaction Practice group.
Qualifications of Corporate/Litigation Paralegal:
- Must be well-organized and a self-starter.
- Strong customer service skills, with an emphasis on collaboration.
- Math, grammar, and spelling aptitude.
- Ability to follow standard filing procedures.
- Proficiency in the MS Office Suite
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong communication, including writing, speaking, and active listening.
- Familiarity with basic office policies and procedures.
- Ability to operate office equipment.
- Knowledge of corporate, real estate, wills and trusts, probate and estate planning terminology and basic legal terminology.
- Familiarity with legal court procedures and state and federal agency requirements in specialized areas.
- Knowledge of basic business and corporate principles.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of case economics and case management techniques.
- Ability to be proactive and critically assess a case's needs and manage a case from beginning to end.
Additional experience and educational preferences:
Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job.
- Required: Associate or undergraduate degree and/or Paralegal Certificate or experience demonstrating required skills.
- Required: 10+ years of litigation paralegal experience
Hourly Range and Benefits:
Hourly range is dependent upon a variety of factors, which include but are not limited to the following: the candidate’s relevant experience, skill level, and demonstrated ability to perform all of the essential functions of the position as well as the ability to perform tasks which would arise from the needs of the position or as assigned and all of the qualifications listed in the job description. Working Conditions:
This position is capable of working partially remote, based on the needs of the attorneys and clients. The need to be in the office cannot be predicted as the work assigned will be based on multiple factors. When in the office, it is a normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like. Travel outside the office may be necessary occasionally. Ability to occasionally lift objects weighing up to 10 pounds. Travel outside the office may be necessary occasionally.
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time; frequently operates a computer and other office machinery such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer; frequently works under deadlines; occasionally needs to move about the office to access file cabinets, machinery, etc.
