Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

*A successful candidate satisfactorily performs these general categories of duties. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Conducting legal research and fact-checking to ensure accuracy in legal documents.
  • Assist the in-house attorney with contract drafting and review, including preparing legal documents such as non-disclosure agreements, consulting agreements, and vendor agreements.
  • Support senior paralegal and Intellectual Property (IP) attorney with trademark/IP matters, including but not limited to trademark/IP renewal, opposition, litigation, and other related matters.
  • Assist attorneys with corporate secretarial compliance for entities, including but not limited to preparing  board minutes, authentications, certifications, by-laws, and other secretarial matters.
  • Support in-house attorneys with docketing, maintaining, organizing, and filing legal documents with the internal document/matter electronic system.
  • Support the implementation of new departmental technology solutions.
  • Maintain and organize current files, including legal documents, contracts, and other information.
  • Proofread and review legal documents to ensure accuracy, completeness, and form compliance.
  • Assist with ongoing projects related to the legal department's goals and help with specific administrative tasks.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree (or in college/university for a bachelor’s degree)
  • Preferred: Paralegal Certification
  • 2+ years of experience as a paralegal with an emphasis on IP and corporate secretarial matters

  • Approachable with excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work as a team player while maintaining a high degree of customer service and confidentiality. 
  • Ability to prioritize job tasks to change priority and in a deadline-driven, fast-paced work environment.

  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy, including data entry and mathematical aptitude. Highly organized and adapts quickly to changing priorities and simultaneously handles multiple projects with total accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Ability to meet deadlines and follow directions.
  • Excellent time management skills and demonstrated ability to remain calm under pressure. 
  • Adaptable and comfortable with change, focused on continuous Improvement.  
  • Thrive in a deadline-driven environment and can respond well to changing priorities, workflows, and information. 
  • Must be able to multitask and work well under pressure. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

Salary
  • $35 - $25/hour
