Job Summary:
Assists attorneys in performing legal tasks in research, document production and overall legal support to the attorneys’ practice.

Working Conditions:
This position requires sitting for long periods of time while operating a computer. At times, employees are required to work in excess of the normal work schedule, particularly during trial preparation. Employees in this position must be mobile, have the ability to bend, and have ability to lift and carry files weighing approximately 10-15 lbs.
Assists attorneys in performing legal tasks in research, document production and overall legal support to the attorneys’ practice.
Responsibilities:
- Perform all elements of litigation case management, including file management, discovery, and trial activities.
- Implement case calendaring system to track filings and appropriately distribute information
- Liaise between case team attorneys and support staff as needed to ensure that case-specific paralegal services are meeting the team’s expectations.
- Interact with outside entities (e.g. courts, government agencies, expert witnesses, corporations, vendors, and other law firms) to gather information or coordinate activities as needed in support of firm activities, specifically trials and arbitrations.
- Lead discovery and witness preparation support efforts.
- Draft, review, and/or analyze routine legal documents as requested by attorneys; conduct legal research under attorney supervision.
- Index, organize and analyze legal and other documents.
- Under the supervision of an attorney, draft pleadings, contracts, certificates, etc.
- Issue subpoenas
- Coordinate and participate in document production.
- May assist with witness preparation and attend depositions as required.
- Assist with trial preparation and may attend and assist the attorneys during trial.
- Prepare deposition summaries.
- Obtain information using the Westlaw system.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Supervision Received and/or Given:
Receive both oral and written instructions from the supervising attorney.
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:
- High School graduate.
- 3 years of experience as a paralegal or legal secretary in a position involving significant decision making responsible.
- Ability to type 65 wpm.
- Competent in the use of computers and Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Power Point and Microsoft Outlook.
- Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
- Good organizational skills.
- Excellent people skills.
Additional Desirable Qualifications:
- College degree
- Paralegal certificate
