Job Description

Primary Function:

The Intellectual Property Specialist will play a key role in supporting Bradford White’s Intellectual Property Department. This position involves handling day-to-day IP-related activities and assisting Bradford White’s Intellectual Property Counsel with various IP tasks.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in Bradford White’s IP Process from both a policy and functional standpoint to capture and protect Bradford White innovation.
  • Liaise with engineering and Advanced Development teams to facilitate the documentation of technical disclosures and support the preliminary review of new innovations.
  • Responsible for IP Data Integrity
    • Maintain IP flow logs to ensure all processes are completed
    • System manager for IP Management and Docketing tools
    • Maintain history of IP Process and archival documentation of older patents
    • Maintain living document of Patent and Trademark status
    • Track status of pending IP items
    • Assist in maintaining Patent Marking documentation
  • Interface with our outside counsel and monitor status of IP items being handled by outside counsel
  • Assist in Patent Review Board meeting
  • Track inventorship and facilitate inventor recognition

Assemble monthly IP metric reports

 

Job Requirements:

  • 5+ years experience in intellectual property management and legal docket management, or related
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (STEM), Business, or Legal Studies preferred
  • Strong understanding of US and Canadian IP laws and regulations as well as associated intellectual property prosecution processes
  • Proficiency in IP docketing software and management tools
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills required, both with internal teams as well as outside attorneys
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to work independently or part of a team
  • Microsoft Office competency required
