LOCATION: Atlanta, Ga (Hybrid- In office Tuesdays and Wedensdays)

TIME COMMITMENT: June 3rd-Aug 6th 2025 (30-40hrs/week)

 

JOB SUMMARY

The Legal Services intern will be primarily responsible for supporting a variety of department projects in Atlanta, GA this summer.

In close collaboration with Legal Services attorneys, the intern will provide support with legal research and summaries, legal template documents, legal compliance tasks, document review, document database maintenance, litigation trackers, and insurance analysis and reports as needed.

  • Understanding the inner workings of alarge non-profit
  • How to support and manage projects for an in-house legal team
  • How to effectively communicate legal issues to non-legal stakeholders
  • How to work with senior leadership
  • How to collaborate with a team and organizational partners to ensure legal compliance

What you will be doing: The intern will be supporting the Legal Services team with legal work and projects.

Responsibilities

Project Objectives:

Outline the specific goals and objectives of the project. What does the intern aim to achieve by completing this project?

 

  1. Objective 1: Obtain exposure to in-house legal operations and collaborate with attorneys.
  2. Objective 2: Improve verbal and written communication skills by collaborating with attorneys, writing communications that summarize legal issues, and helping prepare team materials and presentations.
  3. Objective 3: Navigate and manage our online databases and various litigation related trackers.

Project Tasks:
List the specific tasks that need to be completed for the intern to achieve the project objectives.

Qualifications

What we’re looking for: Self-motivation and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Eagerness to learn. Highly organized with an eye for detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to manage time appropriately. Ability to interact professionally with BGCA senior leadership and staff. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. Maintains complete confidentiality in all matters relating to the Legal Services team.

 

Time Commitment: June 2, 2025 through August 8, 2025. This is a hybrid role and will require on-site presence Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Expected to work at least 20-40 hours per week.  There is some flexibility in arranging the schedule, both in part-time or full-time status and length of internship.

 

Education/Major: Pursuing a pre-law undergraduate degree or J.D. from an accredited school with the desire to become an attorney.

 

Skills: Applicants should demonstrate interest in the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and a legal career. Experience using Microsoft Office suite, including Word and Excel. A track record of reliability, independent work, and attention to detail. Excellent analytic, verbal and written communication skills. Ability to manage time appropriately.
