Job Description

Minimum Qualifications:

-Core undergraduate program in computer science, information systems, or related field, or equivalent work experience, AND a minimum of 6 years work experience in any combination of the following\: providing solutions design, developing project plans with project manager or recommending approach through defining tasks and/or leading meetings relating to programs for computer applications, including 4 years technology related work experience. 

-Or 6 years exp. as a Software Developer 3

-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above. 

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with:

- Microsoft .NET with C#/MVC

- Dev/OPS Server use

- Technical Writing Skills

The Ohio Attorney General’s Office has played a vital role in shaping Ohio’s past and present and the work it does today helps chart the state’s future. The office consists of nearly 30 distinct sections that advocate for consumers and victims of crime, assist the criminal justice community, provide legal counsel for state offices and agencies, and enforce certain state laws. In these and other capacities, staff members interact with tens of thousands of Ohioans each year.

The Ohio Attorney General's Office is currently seeking a highly motivated, self-starting individual for Software Developer 4 in the Information Technology Services Section. The Software Developer 4 Specialist will possess development knowledge of systems and applications. The candidate will act in a lead capacity to mentor lower-level developers. This position will work a hybrid in-person/remote schedule. There may be changes to this schedule based on training and operational needs. The headquarter location is 30 E. Broad St., Columbus, Ohio. The successful candidate will perform the following duties while working in a team environment, which include but are not limited to:

·   Architect and implement complex, scalable systems, ensuring optimization for performance, security, maintainability, and alignment with organizational objectives.

·   Lead technical evaluations, code reviews, and performance assessments for team members, providing constructive feedback to foster growth.

·   Mentor and coach developers at all levels, promoting best practices in coding, debugging, and problem-solving to cultivate a cohesive, high-performing team.

·   Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, including product managers and executives, to define technical roadmaps, influence strategic decisions, and champion the adoption of innovative technologies.

·   Troubleshoot mission-critical issues, conduct root-cause analyses, and implement preventive measures to maximize system reliability, uptime and scalability.

·   Champion agile methodologies, facilitating sprints, stand-ups, and retrospectives while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.

·   Proactively monitor industry trends, evaluate emerging tools, frameworks, and methodologies, and integrate relevant advancements to maintain a technical edge.

·   Drive the development of reusable frameworks, libraries, and tools to streamline development processes and enhance team productivity.

·   Oversee technical debt management, balancing short-term delivery needs with long-term system health through strategic refactoring and optimization.

·   Lead data migration initiatives, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and minimal disruption through meticulous planning, validation, and execution.

·   Design, develop, and maintain robust web services, leveraging expertise in RESTful APIs, microservices, and service-oriented architectures to support scalable applications.

·   Demonstrate mastery of the Microsoft technology stack, including proficiency in .NET, C#, Azure, and related tools, to deliver high-quality, enterprise-grade solutions.

·   Establish and document processes and best practices for software development, ensuring consistency, clarity, and accessibility for the team.
