We are seeking a Legal Operations Manager to lead and optimize our collections and litigation workflows, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency at every stage.
Position OverviewThe Legal Operations Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of our toll and collections division. This leadership role combines legal process management, data-driven reporting, and staff supervision. You will work closely with attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to ensure cases move seamlessly through all phases-from summons and complaint to judgment and enforcement.
Key Responsibilities- Manage daily legal operations for toll collection and government debt cases.
- Oversee case workflows in Simplicity Collect (or similar collection software), ensuring accurate tracking and timely follow-up.
- Monitor issues such as service of process, returned proposed judgments, defaults, and executions, implementing corrective measures where needed.
- Use Excel batch services and large data sets to track trends, update case information, and prepare client reports.
- Supervise paralegals and support staff, ensuring team productivity and quality control.
- Coordinate with marshals, sheriffs, and courts for enforcement processes.
- Generate and analyze reports for internal management and clients, identifying operational bottlenecks and recommending improvements.
- Maintain compliance with court rules, client requirements, and internal firm policies.
Required:
- 3+ years of experience in legal operations, litigation support, or collections management (law firm or collections agency background preferred).
- Strong knowledge of litigation processes including service of process, defaults, judgments, discovery, and enforcement.
- Proficiency with Excel (pivot tables, batch services, data analysis) and case management software.
- Proven ability to supervise and train staff in a fast-paced legal environment.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred:
- Experience with Simplicity Collect, NetDocuments, or other legal tech platforms.
- Familiarity with government or toll collections specifically.
- Data reporting and process improvement experience.
