Overview Responsibilities Qualifications
The Legal Compliance and Risk Management Attorney plays a critical role in ensuring that the firm adheres to regulatory requirements and internal policies. They will assess and manage the firm’s financial and legal risks by determining potential compliance issues and developing strategies to mitigate them. This role involves developing and implementing compliance programs, assessing risk, educating stakeholders, and advising on legal matters to protect the firm from potential legal and financial liabilities.
Corporate Compliance
- Keep all corporate entities and business licenses in compliance with appropriate state requirements and business licenses up to date.
- Create and oversee the implementation of compliance programs that ensure the organization adheres to all applicable laws, and regulations (PCI,
- Continuously monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of compliance programs, adjusting as necessary to address new regulations and evolving business practices.
- Conduct training sessions for employees to ensure they understand their compliance responsibilities and the importance of adhering to established policies and procedures.
- Draft and revise company policies to ensure they are in line with current legal standards.
- Work across the firm to oversee adherence to the Rules of Professional Conduct.
- Identify, assess, and prioritize risks that could impact the organization, including legal risks, financial risks, and operational risks.
- Develop and implement strategies to mitigate identified risks, including the creation of contingency plans and corrective actions.
- Lead the response to compliance incidents or breaches, including conducting investigations and recommending corrective actions.
- Prepare and present reports on compliance and risk management activities to General Counsel and work across the firm to implement corrective actions as needed.
- Work closely with other departments, including finance, human resources, and operations, to ensure compliance and risk management efforts are integrated across the organization.
- Engage with external stakeholders, including regulators, auditors, and outside counsel, to represent the organization's interests and ensure compliance with external requirements.
