Job Description
*** Division amended*** This position is located under the Office of Professional Responsibility and Security Operations. Location will be determined upon selection. This position serves as the Assistant Special Agent in Charge (ASAC) in the Professional Responsibility Division; responsibilities include developing detailed plans, objectives, and goals for integrity investigations of ATF employees throughout the United States, including cases involving racial and sexual harassment.
Duties The major duties of the Supervisory Criminal Investigator position include, but are not limited to, the following: Provides professional leadership and guidance in planning, coordinating, managing, and participating in integrity investigations. Leads or conducts investigations that may involve high profile criminal cases. Conducts special investigations, both criminal and administrative, in coordination with the Department of Justice Office of Inspector General. Participates with other agencies in joint integrity investigations involving cross-jurisdictional matters and other agencies' employees. Analyzes the complex and diverse circumstances surrounding misconduct and integrity cases and discerns the substantive misconduct cases from those that are management issues. Consults with personnel in investigation units outside of the Bureau as well as with experts outside government to provide guidance, conduct trend analysis, and resolve cross-agency integrity issues/problems. Works with the Office of Chief Counsel to review new legislation and court decisions that effect the manner in which investigations are conducted to ensure that needed changes are incorporated into program methods to meet new requirements. Salary- $126,384 - $164,301/year
