17BASIC PURPOSE:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Drafting, negotiating, reviewing, and related client counseling for multiple business units relating to a wide variety of finance, commercial, real estate/affordable housing and community investment, governance and corporate transactions.
- Reviewing, researching, and drafting legal opinions, memoranda, letters, and other documents on a variety of legal issues affecting the Bank.
- Giving advice and rendering opinions with respect to the legal implications involved in establishing or changing Bank policy. Working with representatives from various departments on developing, modifying, and interpreting policies, practices and procedures to conform to legal requirements.
- Analyzing and interpreting Federal, state and local laws, rules, regulations, policies and administrative guidance, both proposed and final, affecting the Bank. Keeping the Bank’s employees, officers and directors informed of the same.
- Conferring and communicating with the Bank’s employees, officers, directors, and customers, and other legal counsel, on a variety of legal matters.
- Responding to appropriate questions from employees, officers, directors and customers of the Bank, and from applicable Federal and state regulatory agencies.
- Identifying, scheduling, and delivering educational sessions on legal topics for Bank employees, officers and directors.
- Supervising paralegals, legal assistants and legal secretaries in connection with assignments relating to the foregoing.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
- Excellent communication skills and strong academic background, including the ability to:
- write clearly and informatively (email, memos, letters, reports);
-negotiate with other parties; and
-effectively present information one-on-one or to small groups.
- Ability to read, understand, interpret and advise upon complex text (i.e, regulations or policy).
- Ability to work effectively with team members, other lawyers, and members of management across all levels of the company.
A law degree, admission to the State Bar of Georgia, and at least seven years of general corporate law and commercial legal experience.
Work Location: This individual must reside within commuting distance from our Atlanta, GA office. This position may not be filled in New Jersey, either in-person or remotely.
Work Schedule: Onsite with an opportunity to work remote partially.
