Director of Business Development

Department: Sales

Location: Nashville and surrounding area 

Compensation: Base Salary + Commission + Comprehensive Benefits Package

Position Summary

The Director of Business Development is responsible for maintaining and growing an assigned territory through the expansion of existing client relationships and the acquisition of new business. This role focuses on selling litigation support services and building trusted partnerships within law firms, corporate legal departments, and insurance organizations.

The ideal candidate brings required prior legal industry experience, a consultative sales mindset, and the ability to build relationships with legal professionals at all levels, including Paralegals, Legal Secretaries, Legal Administrators, Attorneys, and Partners.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Drive sales of litigation support services provided by U.S. Legal Support within an assigned territory

  • Manage and grow an established portfolio of accounts while identifying and closing new business opportunities

  • Build and maintain strong relationships across all levels of law firms, corporate legal departments, and insurance accounts

  • Demonstrate effective selling skills and comprehensive product knowledge across all service offerings

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of pricing structures and proposal models

  • Maximize revenue growth through strategic account management and client engagement

  • Train clients on the use of U.S. Legal Support tools and solutions

  • Assist with the execution of company marketing initiatives as needed

  • Source and develop client referrals, including new firm relationships

  • Attend all required team meetings, including weekly sales calls and training sessions

  • Maintain accurate and timely records of sales activities

  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and business ethics standards

  • Collaborate effectively with internal teams and stakeholders to support client needs

Required Qualifications
  • Prior legal industry experience is required (law firm, litigation support, corporate legal, insurance, or related environment)

  • Proven ability to meet or exceed sales quotas

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and quickly ramp up

  • Reliable transportation, current insurance, and a clean driving record

  • Ability to travel as required based on territory and business needs

Preferred Qualifications
  • Legal sales experience strongly preferred

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities

  • Ability to influence and engage legal professionals at all levels

  • Strong organizational, time management, and follow-up skills
