We are seeking a junior Patent Attorney (f/m/d) to join our dynamic intellectual property team at Dennemeyer & Associates, at our Chicago location. The preferred candidate is qualified and registered as a Patent Agent. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience since entering the patent profession, including time spent in private practice, with an academic and practice background in electronics, computer science and similar technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drafting, filing, and prosecuting patent applications in the US and further afield
- Conducting patentability assessments, freedom-to-operate analyses, and providing strategic advice to clients
- Collaborating with research and development teams and tech transfer offices of corporate and academic clients, to identify and protect innovations
- Representing clients before Patent and Trademark Office(s)
- Keeping updated with changes in patent law and practice
Qualifications & Skills:
- Degree-level qualified in Electronics, Computer Science, Mathematics or similar
- Registered as a Patent Agent, or exam-ready
- At least 3 years of experience in the patent profession
- Experience in electronics/computer-implemented inventions casework
- Experience in drafting, filing and prosecuting US and PCT applications
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; additional linguistic skills are desirable but not essential
- Ability to work both independently and as part of an international team
