
The Role
This role sits in the Ethics & Compliance (E&C) team that is part of the global Legal team and IHG’s Business Reputation and Responsibility function (made up of IHG’s legal, risk, internal audit teams). E&C is a small central team that manages the group’s ethics & compliance programs (including anti-bribery, antitrust, sanctions, due diligence and code of conduct) and acts in a center of excellence capacity to support the organization on ethics & compliance. This role is focused on ensuring we meet legal and regulatory expectations as well as embedding good ethics & compliance practices and a culture of integrity across the organization.
Your Day-to-Day
Provide Legal and Compliance Advice: Deliver expert legal counsel on antitrust, anti-bribery, sanctions, conflicts of interest, due diligence, and other ethics and compliance matters across the Americas region and key business functions.
Lead Ethics & Compliance Programs: Oversee the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of ethics and compliance frameworks, including policies, procedures, risk assessments, and training initiatives.
Support Investigations and Disclosures: Collaborate with Internal Audit on confidential disclosures and investigations into compliance breaches, ensuring thorough and ethical resolution.
Manage Due Diligence Processes: Guide hotel owner and supplier due diligence efforts in partnership with regional legal, development, and procurement teams to mitigate third-party risks.
Monitor Legal Developments: Stay current on relevant laws and regulations, proactively informing and advising the business on potential impacts and necessary actions.
Engage and Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Act as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor to global legal colleagues and business stakeholders, fostering strong working relationships and aligned compliance strategies.
Utilize and Oversee External Counsel: Manage outside legal resources effectively to ensure high quality, cost-efficient representation and support for the company.
What we need from you
Education: Juris Doctor (JD) and bachelor’s degree required; must be a member in good standing of the Georgia Bar.
Legal Experience: Minimum of 3 years of post-qualification legal experience with progressive responsibility, ideally within global organizations or law firms.
Compliance Expertise: Strong knowledge of anti-bribery, competition law, sanctions, and broader regulatory risk areas; experience designing and implementing compliance programs including policies, procedures, and risk assessments.
Ethical Leadership: Demonstrated passion for ethical business practices and awareness of emerging trends in compliance, governance, and regulatory ethics.
Communication & Influence: Proven ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and effectively to diverse stakeholders, and to influence at all levels of a global organization.
Legal Drafting & Advisory Skills: Skilled in drafting a wide range of legal documents and advising on complex legal and compliance matters.
Team Leadership & Collaboration: Experience in leading, advising, and developing people, and working collaboratively across legal and business functions.
Location: Atlanta, GA. Our hybrid work structure is an expectation of three (3) days a week in office. This expectation may be adjusted to evolve with the changing needs of the business.
The salary range for this role is $100,000 to $190,000. This role is also eligible for bonus pay (as applicable). We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, 401K, and other benefits to employees.
