Job Description

Overview

The District Attorney's Office is seeking law students interested in a paid internship with our office!

As an intern, students will draft motions, do research, and assist during trials (as appropriate). 

We are looking for those eligible, and those not yet eligible, to work under the student practice act. Internships are available at both our Loveland and Fort Collins locations, at the County and District Court levels. Specifically, for the Spring we are looking for law students who are 3Ls (or those with more than 60 credit hours in law school) and for the Summer were are looking for law students who are rising 2L or 3Ls.

During the school year we are flexible around class schedules, but will need interns to work during the 8AM to 5PM Monday through Friday work window. We expect interns to work 10 hours per week during the school year, and in the summer an intern may work up to 40 hours per week. Summer interns are expected to be with our office at least 10 weeks.

Responsibilities

Specifically, this position:

  • Will be assigned to a courtroom and assist the attorneys in that courtroom with various tasks. 
  • Work side by side with Deputy District Attorneys to learn what it's like to be a practicing prosecutor.

We are looking for a candidate that will:
  • Have strong writing and communication abilities.
  • Have a desire to do courtroom work.
  • Be comfortable with common legal research techniques. 

Qualifications

All candidates will be screened for the following required minimum qualifications. Any candidate who does not meet all of the qualifications listed as required will be eliminated from the process.

  • Must be at least 15 years of age.
