The Legal Assistant Team Leader position will partner with the Operations Manager to oversee the Legal Assistant team’s work, monitor productivity, and provide support and guidance with day-to-day work questions, processes & procedures, and job training & development. The Legal Assistant Team Leader ensures legal teams run smoothly, meeting all requirements and deadlines as assigned. This position is eligible to work a hybrid schedule after successfully onboarding and completing the appropriate training period.
- Assists Operations Manager in overseeing, delegating tasks, monitoring productivity, and providing on-going training for all Legal Assistants;
- Acts as a role model and leads by example to foster a productive work environment;
- Monitors work productivity and coaches Legal Assistants as needed to ensure work requirements are met timely and accurately;
- Directs Legal Assistants work as needed to ensure all deadlines are met;
- Partners with Operations Manager to resolve conflicts and team related issues as they arise;
- Meets collectively with Operations Manager on a regular basis for updates on current events, issues, coverages, etc.;
- Helps to coordinate assistance for Legal Assistants when needed and pre-determined coverage is not available;
- Assists with urgent requests during and outside normal business hours;
- Train and mentors new Legal Assistants; check in with new hires on a regular basis to ensure training and processes and procedures are understood;
- Provides job specific training and available to answer Legal Assistants’ questions, and;
- Communicate effectively with Legal Assistants, Attorneys, and firm management as needed.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 5+ years of Legal Assistant experience in a mid-sized law firm (preferred);
- Experience managing or supervising a team;
- Proficient in legal billing systems (ex. LSS), Microsoft Office, document storage software (ex. iManage);
- Proficient in Adobe Acrobat;
- Effectively manage high volume workload with critical deadlines;
- Ability to exercise a high degree of personal integrity, confidentiality, discretion, and judgement;
- Communicates effectively with others (members, managers, team members, etc.);
- Ability to solve complex problems, and;
- Available flexible hours within a hybrid work schedule.
The hiring range for this position is $75,000 to $105,000 annually.
