Who You Are
You are a second-year law student at an accredited U.S. law school with a strong interest in in-house practice within a small, agile legal team. You bring solid skills in legal research, drafting, and issue-spotting across contracts, employment-related matters, project support, and general corporate needs. You are motivated to support an engineering firm that primarily serves municipal, government, and industrial clients, and you are comfortable working within both public-sector and commercial frameworks. You are eager to learn, collaborate directly with attorneys and technical staff, and contribute meaningfully to real-world legal work.
What You'll Do
As a Hazen Legal Intern, you will:
· Conduct legal research and prepare concise memoranda on corporate governance, contracts, environmental regulations, procurement processes, and risk mitigation
· Assist the legal team in drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and managing legal documentation including contracts, NDAs, subconsultant contracts, and vendor agreements
· Assist corporate counsel with compliance initiatives and policy development
· Support corporate due diligence and transactional activity such as M&A, teaming arrangements, and joint ventures
· Assist with litigation support and investigations, as needed
· Contribute and manage legal projects aimed at process improvements or efficiency, such as contract playbooks or knowledge-base guides

Required Qualifications
· Enrolled in an accredited U.S. law school (2L), returning to law school post-summer 2026
· Excellent research, writing, and oral communication skills
· Strong attention to detail, organizational prowess, and ability to manage competing priorities independently
· Ability to collaborate with technical teams and communicate legal guidance in clear, practical terms
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research tools
Preferred Qualifications
· Coursework or demonstrated interest in environmental, public contract, corporate, and/or construction law
· Prior legal internship or in-house experience or course work.
