Trueline's client, a well-established law firm in Houston, is seeking a Municipal and Land Use Attorney to join their team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with diverse municipalities and make a meaningful impact in public service.
What You'll Do as the Municipal & Land Use Attorney:
- Serve as principal general counsel for multiple municipalities
- Provide comprehensive legal services related to local government operations
- Conduct legal research and prepare various legal documents
- Attend city council and other governing body meetings
- Review laws, contracts, and administrative processes to develop legal strategies
- Offer legal advice to client staff, elected officials, and appointed officials
- Draft and review ordinances, resolutions, policies, and procedures
- Participate in marketing and networking activities
You'll Succeed as the Municipal & Land Use Attorney if you Have:
- 3-10 years of experience in municipal or local government law
- A passion for public service and community impact
- Strong legal research and analysis skills
- Knowledge of local government legal principles, state and federal laws, and regulations
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients, courts, and the public
- Proficiency in MS Office tools and Adobe Acrobat
- Familiarity with legal case management software
- Expertise in Texas Open Meetings Act, land use regulations, and other areas of municipal law
- Flexibility to accommodate evening meetings and a varied schedule
