The United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania's mission is to investigate, prosecute and deter violations of federal statutes, enforce and represent the interests of the United States in civil litigation, uphold civil, constitutional and victims' rights, and foster partnerships with other federal, state and local government agencies and community groups.

This Information Technology Specialist provides technical and analytical assistance involving Litigation Support which supports the information management needs of the United States Attorney's Office (USAO).
If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing Information Technology Specialist support in the U.S. Attorney's Office, Eastern District of Pennsylvania, located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, focusing in the areas of litigation support; information technology support..
Typical work assignments will include:
- Providing customer support services, training, and assistance on a variety of routine applications in response to user requirements.
- Supporting and managing a litigative case throughout the case file lifecycle from the investigative stage through the appeals process.
- Performing essential Litigation Support tasks associated with day-to-day operations of utilizing specialty litigation support hardware and software network capability systems.
- Implementing programs to ensure users understand and adhere to government standards of systems security policies, procedures, and promote awareness of security issues among management and employees.
- Utilizing Information Technology to develop data and graphic representation of evidence in a courtroom setting.
- Aiding litigation teams on legal automation requirements and systems capabilities to facilitate litigation decisions, case preparation, and trial presentation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required basic requirement and specialized experience for the respective grade level in which you are applying:

Applicants must meet or exceed the minimum proficiency levels for the required competencies listed above and experience for the grade level(s) for which they are applying.
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Such experience is typically gained in the IT field or through the performance of work where the primary concern is IT.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience and/or education for the respective grade level in which you are applying:
To qualify at the GS-09 level, you must possess:
Specialized Experience: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level in the Federal service performing (obtained in either the public or private sectors) (3) of the (5) duties listed below:
- Assisting with development, planning, or coordination of litigation support services including trial preparation and presentations in response to customer needs using eDiscovery software;
- Planning or scheduling the installation of new or modified litigation supporting hardware and software to ensure seamless installation, minimize installation problems and downtime;
- Controlling or maintaining the office's equipment inventory and managing network accounts.
- Troubleshooting and maintaining customer hardware and software to optimize system performance and identify components for improvements;
- Utilizing review platforms such as Everlaw, and other similar platforms to load discovery materials.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level.
- You must submit your SF-50 that shows Time-in-Grade eligibility and reflects your title, series, and grade. No award SF-50 will be accepted; recommended SF-50s include promotions and step increases (within grade increases).
