We are currently searching for students or alumni interested in gaining hands-on experience at a fast-paced and innovative renewable energy company. Our mission is to provide flexible renewable energy at scale, accelerating the global energy transition and benefiting our planet, customers, communities, and people. Our internships have a specific focus, but often get broader exposure to SB Energy's business, gaining insight into different areas of the company and the renewable energy industry.

This internship will help you acquire marketable legal skills by participating in key legal initiatives related to renewable energy project acquisition, development, finance, and construction. You will gain broad experience in a busy in-house practice, and should be prepared to enter a fast-paced, collaborative work environment. 

Responsibilities 

  • Exposure to variety of legal disciplines and functions relevant to SB Energy’s core business, including finance, regulatory, development, and day-to-day legal support. Specific tasks will depend on the intern’s personal interests and team’s needs. 
  • Work on a diverse mix of assignments and on a range of transactions, projects, and regulatory matters. Examples of specific tasks may include: 
    • Negotiation of Non-Disclosure Agreements, Services Agreements and Task Orders. 
    • Support discrete deliverables for complex commercial and financial transactions, including checklist management, coordination with consultants and outside counsel, and related tasks. 
    • Management and maintenance of document repositories for precedent tracking. 
  • Track, review, and analyze regulatory filings and other legal documents; take initiative to develop processes and systems to manage same. 
  • Support targeted legal research and projects as needed. 
  • Support contract management as needed.  
  • Assist with note taking, scheduling, and strategic planning efforts. 

Skills And Experience

  • Law student pursuing a Juris Doctor from an ABA accredited law school.  
  • Demonstrated interest in the energy industry desired; prior legal and/or technical experience or educational background in energy development, project finance, energy regulation, or related fields preferred.  
  • Previous related internships, volunteer, or work experience desired.  
  • Prior exposure/comfort level with legal and/or regulatory documentation strongly desired.  
  • Proficient in Microsoft office suite.  
  • Highly motivated and a self-starter. 
  • Must be able to work independently and be effective in a team environment. 
  • Ability to support multiple concurrent tasks with competing priorities.  
  • Ability to synthesize and organize large amounts of data. 
  • Ability to organize time well and set proper priorities. 
  • Excellent presentation, oral and written communication skills required.  

Location: Regular attendance in our Redwood City, California office. We have a hybrid office and some remote work is expected.
