Job Description

Job Summary

This position is responsible for providing administrative assistance to the District Attorney’s Office.

Major Duties

  • Prepares files for criminal and civil court.
  • Prepares complaints information and indictments.
  • Disposes of all cases upon approval.
  • Prepares subpoenas.
  • Submits dismissals to court and acquires judge’s signature.
  • Prepares PTD letters and forwards to probation personnel.
  • Prepares copies of police reports and photographs for public offender or retained attorney.
  • Prepares bench warrants and writs of attachment.
  • Enters cause numbers and prepares files.
  • Responds to FBOP requests.
  • Enters and scans CW forms.
  • Enters all motions received and forward to attorney.
  • Processes protective orders.
  • Maintains spreadsheet of protective orders with expiration dates.
  • Performs any other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of legal terminology, policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of computers and job related software programs.
  • Skill in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions.
  • Skill in the preparation of clear and precise administrative reports.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • At least one ( 1 ) year of relevant experience.

Complexity/Scope of Work

  • The work consists of related administrative duties. Frequent interruptions contribute to the complexity of the position.
  • The purpose of this position is to provide administrative assistance to the District Attorney’s Office. Success in this position contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of office operations.

Physical Demands/Work Environment
Occasionally
  • Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles.
  • Moving to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
  • Light work that includes carrying objects up to 20 pounds.
  • Medium work that includes carrying objects up to 50 pounds.

Constantly
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Adjusting or moving objects up to 50 pounds in all directions.
  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Repeating motions that may include the use of wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Assessing the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.

Other Requirements/Information
  • Must possess a valid and current Texas driver's license.
  • Drug and Alcohol Policy applies to this job. Pre-employment drug/alcohol testing, Motor Vehicle Record (MVR), and criminal background checks are required.
  • This position is not covered under Civil Service; however, all other Webb County policies apply.

Salary
  • $17.57 - $21.16/hour
