Human Resources Generalist

Legal Services of North Florida has an opening for a new full-time Human Resources Generalist role to support the expansion and growth of the firm. Work for a non-profit law firm, with 110+ employees in seven offices across North Florida, that seeks legal justice while understanding the value of work-life balance. Work independently and as part of a team to recruit and hire dedicated staff and support staff through the full life cycle of their employment.

The Human Resource Generalist will report to the Human Resources Director and play a crucial role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the HR department. The initial focus will be on recruiting, interviewing, and hiring with the overall goal to broaden the responsibilities to additional HR functions such as performance management, learning and development, compensation/ benefits, and legal compliance. This position requires a solid understanding of various HR functions, including employee relations, benefits administration, hiring, and performance management. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem-solver with excellent interpersonal skills and a passion for attracting and retaining top talent.

 Key duties include:

·         Develop and implement effective recruiting strategies to attract a diverse pool of qualified candidates.

·         Collaborate with hiring managers and provide guidance throughout the hiring process.

·         Assist with updating the applicant tracking system to ensure accurate and compliant records.

·         Assist with on-boarding process for new hires, ensuring a smooth and welcoming transition into the company.

·         Conduct new employee orientations and ensure all required documentation is completed accurately.

·         Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries and concerns, providing guidance and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.

·         Assist in the development and implementation of employee engagement initiatives and programs.

·         Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.

·         Assist in the development, implementation, and communication of performance criteria and evaluation procedures.

·         Enhance opportunities for continued learning and professional development of all staff

·         Assist with accurate and timely payroll processing

 Qualifications:

·         Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. (Experience may be substituted for education requirement on a year-to-year basis.)

·         Three years of experience with progressive responsibilities in a variety of HR functions, with a strong focus on recruiting and hiring.

·         Solid understanding of HR best practices and knowledge of employment laws and regulations.

·         Experience with an HRIS and applicant tracking systems.

·         Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.

·         Strong organizational and time-management abilities, with a keen attention to detail.

·         Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

·         High-level of comfort with the Microsoft Office Suite and use of technology to ensure effective work as part of a distance and local team

·         PHR or SHRM-CP certification is a plus.

·         Experience with law firm or non-profit organization is beneficial.

 

Entry level salary of $55,000 is negotiable, depending on experience.  This is an full-time, exempt position with an expected average of 35-40 hours a week. Comprehensive fringe benefits package includes:

·         Offices are open four days a week, providing Friday as a flexible or short work day

·         Paid time off includes: holidays, sick leave, and personal leave (which after two years, increases to five weeks per year)

·         100% paid health insurance coverage for employee & dependent children after 60 days of employment

·         Employer paid life insurance policy of $25,000

·         Employer contributions of 6% to retirement 401K plan, after one year of full-time service
