Job Description
As a Disbursement Specialist, you play a critical role in ensuring the accurate and timely disbursement of funds in real estate transactions, including purchase, refinance and commercial transactions. This role plays an important part in maintaining compliance with company policies, state and federal regulations, and client requirements, while delivering exceptional service to internal teams, lenders, and clients. Key Responsibilities:
- Process disbursements via wire transfer and check in accordance with company and banking protocols.
- Review funding packages prior to disbursement, work closely with processing team for any missing items
- Verify accuracy of payoffs, invoices, and transaction-related charges before releasing funds.
- Ensure compliance with ALTA Best Practices, state regulations, and internal escrow disbursement procedures.
- Perform daily reconciliation of disbursement accounts, including clearing outstanding wires and checks.
- Monitor for potential fraud, duplicate payments, or irregular activity, escalating issues as needed.
- Coordinate with escrow officers, processors, lenders, and others to resolve discrepancies or payment-related issues.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of all disbursements for audit and compliance purposes.
- Assist in month-end and year-end escrow accounting processes as required.
- May provide support with Positive Pay processing
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in escrow, title, settlement, or real estate accounting/disbursement required.
- Strong understanding of escrow accounting principles, ALTA Best Practices, and banking protocols.
- Proficiency with title/settlement software (e.g., ResWare, SoftPro, RamQuest, Qualia, Title Express) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in financial transactions.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- High ethical standards and commitment to confidentiality.
- MD Title License preferred
