Description
Your Role:
The Paralegal will assist attorney(s) by providing clerical and research support services including document preparation and review; interviewing clients and witnesses; research, investigations, fact-checking, and trial preparation.
Your Responsibilities:
- Conducting an initial intake process and gathering detailed information on potential matters.
- Organizing and maintaining case files using a variety of automated procedures and software.
- Maintaining pleadings and discovery indexes.
- Organizing exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs, and appendices.
- Gathering relevant information from a variety of sources, including document repositories.
- Drafting legal documents to include subpoenas, summonses, initial disclosures, expert disclosures, written discovery, discovery responses, case management orders, trial management orders, and affidavits.
- Preparing and responding to discovery.
- Reviewing and summarizing medical, financial, tax, and employment records.
- Reviewing and summarizing deposition transcripts.
- Performing legal and factual research using online platforms.
- Assisting in preparing attorneys and witnesses for depositions and court appearances, including without limitations by assembling case files and evidence.
- Prepare for trials in state and federal court, managing trial support, creating and overseeing trial exhibits, setting up war rooms, and attending the trial to assist with presenting evidence, managing witnesses, and traveling as needed.
- Proven ability to efficiently manage time, ensuring all completed tasks are accurately billed and documented on client files.
- Tracking and identifying deadlines across multiple cases and clients and prioritizing assigned tasks and duties to ensure deadlines are met.
- Promptly responding to all client inquiries, managing client communications, and coordinating with attorneys.
- Maintaining a professional appearance and attitude.
- Good public relations and customer service with clients.
- Ability to effectively communicate with clients and opposing counsel.
- Confidentiality of attorney-client relationship.
- Additional tasks assigned.
Requirements
Your Skills and Experience:
- 5+ years of experience.
- Certification or a college degree with a focus on paralegal studies is preferred.
- Experience in case management from inception to trial or settlement.
- Knowledge of legal terminology and federal and state rules of legal procedure.
- Ability to manage voluminous files and exhibits.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of NetDocuments (or similar software), Practice Master, and Tabs3 preferred.
- Ability to utilize online legal research applications and tools.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related software.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Occasion travel when cases are up for trial.
