Job Description
Responsibilities
- Supervise all accounting department activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and reconciliations.
- Manage and coach a small team of accounting staff to ensure timely and accurate work.
- Oversee the integrity of daily and monthly accounting processes and reporting cycles.
- Maintain proper trust accounting procedures in compliance with state bar and legal ethics rules.
- Develop, document, and continuously improve internal accounting processes and controls.
- Coordinate with external tax professionals, auditors, and vendors as needed.
- Review and approve monthly reconciliations, journal entries, and internal reports.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for financial operations within the firm.
Requirements
- MBA or equivalent advanced degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration strongly preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Experience working in a legal, professional services, or other trust-account-compliant environment preferred but not required.
- Strong knowledge of day-to-day accounting operations, payroll, and process management.
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online).
- Excellent organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- High attention to detail and accountability in deadline-driven environments.
