This EEO Specialist (Senior Policy Advisor) position is located in the DEA, Office of the Administrator, Equal Employment Opportunity Office. This position's primary purpose is to serves as a subject matter expert and provides authoritative advice to the EEO Officer and EEO staff with respect to policy questions, regulations, practices, or other matters falling within the purview of the EEO Office.
Duties
As a (Senior Policy Advisor) your typical work assignments may include: Reviewing formal EEO complaints, drafting correspondence to accept or dismiss complaints, reviewing Reports of Investigation (ROIs) for legal sufficiency consistent with regulations. Providing EEO guidance to internal and external stakeholders, particularly with regard to sensitive, controversial, novel or precedent setting matters. Analyzing and interpreting complex regulations, policies, judicial and administrative decisions to develop DEA policies, guidelines and procedures. Providing interpretation and implementation strategies for Federal statutes, court decisions, and relevant administrative rulings.

Have at least one full year of specialized experience that is at least equivalent to work performed at the GS-12 grade level. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Qualifying experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing technical authoritative advice to the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Officer and EEO staff with respect to policy questions, regulations, practices, and other matters falling within the purview of the EEO Office; 2) Reviewing formal EEO complaints, drafting correspondence to accept or dismiss complaints, reviewing Reports of Investigation (ROIs) for legal sufficiency consistent with regulations (i.e., 29 CFR 1614) and management directives issued by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) (i.e. Management Directive (MD)-110). This includes processing requests for Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) hearings, Final Agency Decisions, and EEOC appeals; 3) Writing and developing training materials, reviewing and revising policy, researching legal issues, updating complaint systems of record to comply with legally-mandated reporting requirements, and developing templates and procedures as they pertain to EEO; and 4) Provide technical authoritative advice on complex reasonable accommodation issues and identify potential options for accommodation, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, such as the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, EEOC MD-110, and 29 CFR 1614.203. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants must meet time-in-grade and time after competitive appointment requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
