
Summary:
As a legal assistant, you will work closely with our Civil Litigation attorneys and other legal staff to provide support in various legal matters. You will be responsible for a wide range of administrative and clerical tasks, as well as some substantive legal work. The ideal candidate will be proactive, self-motivated, have a high level of attention to detail, excellent proofreading skills and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment. This role requires strong communication and inter-personal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist attorneys in submitting and/or filing legal documents, including but not limited to, pleadings, motions, and reports.
- Organize and maintain legal files and documents.
- Facilitate appointments and manage attorney calendars including scheduling meetings, deadlines, and reminders.
- Assist prior to and during court proceedings, such as organizing exhibits and preparing trial binders.
- Communicate and interact with clients and other parties involved in legal matters.
- Handle administrative tasks, such as answering phone calls and emails, filing, and data entry.
- Proofread documents.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Ability to work independently, proactively, and as part of a team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and legal research databases.
- Strong scheduling, file management, and organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive information.
Working Conditions:
- The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (typical office or administrative work).
Physical Requirements:
- Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
- Repetitive motions: Making substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

- High school diploma or equivalent (associate's degree in paralegal studies or a related field preferred).
- 1 or more years of experience in the legal field as a as a legal assistant or in a related role OR multiple years in a professional office setting as an assistant, administrative position, or similar role.
