Job Description

Purpose of the Role

Mandelbaum Barrett PC seeks an experienced Litigation Legal Assistant for our Greenwich office. This in-person role supports attorneys handling sophisticated civil, commercial, and employment litigation in Connecticut and New York courts. The ideal candidate has executive presence, strong organizational skills, and experience working with high-profile or sensitive clients, managing complex litigation matters and coordinating between attorneys, clients, courts, and opposing counsel with discretion and professionalism.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive litigation support from case inception through trial.
  • Prepare, draft, proofread, and organize pleadings, motions, discovery, subpoenas, and correspondence.
  • Manage electronic and physical case files, including tracking deadlines, calendars, and litigation milestones.
  • Coordinate depositions, mediations, arbitrations, hearings, and court appearances.
  • Prepare and file documents in Connecticut and New York state and federal courts.
  • Assist with trial preparation, including exhibits, binders, witness materials, and logistics.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, and vendors, often involving sensitive or high-profile matters.
  • Perform administrative and case management tasks to support attorneys.
  • Maintain accurate time, case, and matter records in accordance with firm policies.
  • Handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience supporting attorneys in litigation (law firm required).
  • Strong familiarity with Connecticut and New York litigation procedures.
  • Experience with court filings and e-filing systems in state and/or federal courts, including Connecticut eFileCT and New York NYSCEF.
  • Proven ability to interact professionally with high-profile or sensitive clients.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with legal case management systems preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours when necessary.

Compensation & Benefits: This position offers a salary range of $70,000 - $85,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, skills, and qualifications. Support staff may also be eligible for discretionary year-end bonuses and a merit-based increase. The posted salary range reflects the base pay range for this position.
