Job Description
Brooks & Berne, PLLC is looking for a paralegal/legal assistant to support our New York practice.
Responsibilities:
- Organize and manage case files, documents and evidence.
- Conduct legal research to assist attorneys in case strategy and preparation.
- Draft and review legal documents, including pleadings, correspondence and discovery requests.
- Assist in the discovery process, including document collection, organization and coordination of depositions.
- Prepare trial exhibits, witness lists, and trial binders and assist during trial proceedings.
- Manage electronic filing of court documents, ensuring compliance with court rules and deadlines.
- Maintain and manage court deadlines, hearings and attorney schedules.
- Utilize legal software and databases for research, document management and case tracking.
- Provide administrative assistance to attorneys, including scheduling, travel arrangements and expense record maintenance.
- Ensure the confidentiality and security of client information and sensitive case materials.
- Stay updated on legal regulations and maintain adherence to ethical guidelines.
Required skills and qualifications:
- Proficiency in legal research and writing.
- Proficiency with Office 365.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong ability to work efficiently and effectively with time-sensitive materials.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
