As an Assistant General Counsel, you will be responsible for working directly with the firm’s General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel on a wide range of ethics, risk management, and firm defense matters at one of the world’s leading law firms.
What You Will Do:
Provide research, analysis, and advice to firm partners and associates on a wide variety of issues arising from new representations, including conflict-of-interest, professional responsibility, and engagement agreement issues.
Provide advice with respect to ethics and other professional responsibility rules relating to incoming lateral associates and partners.
Assist with the firm’s response to any demands or motions seeking to disqualify the firm or its attorneys as counsel in particular matters.
Help to develop and implement firm policies on a broad array of matters such as the use of artificial intelligence and other tools, new representations, social media, and matters requiring special firm approval.
Handle or otherwise assist with the analysis and defense of threatened or actual claims involving the firm, including supervision of outside counsel retained to represent the firm with respect to such claims.
Coordinate on specific matters with the firm’s attorneys who specialize in addressing client intake/conflicts, subpoenas and other document requests, and electronic discovery matters.
Provide advice in support of the firm’s extensive pro bono practice, including on ethics issues, engagement letters, and pro bono clinics.
Coordinate with the firm’s attorneys, located in London, who provide ethics-related and other advice to firm attorneys located outside the United States.
Build strong working relationships directly with the firm’s partners and associates and with members of Goodwin’s Global Operations departments
Who You Are:
JD required.
5+ years of experience as a litigation attorney, with experience working in a large global law firm strongly preferred.
Demonstrated sustained success and excellence in legal research, analysis, writing, and verbal communication.
Experience dealing with legal ethics/conflicts issues a plus.
Outstanding academic record.
