So, what will a Lead Adjudicator do?

The Executive Office for the United States Attorneys (EOUSA) mission is to provide close liaison between the Department of Justice (DOJ) in Washington DC., for the ninety-four United States Attorneys Districts, located throughout the fifty states, the District of Columbia, Guam and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. As Lead Adjudicator, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the adjudication of background investigations for DOJ personnel, ensuring compliance with security and suitability standards. This position is integral to maintaining the integrity and security of the DOJ workforce.

What does a typical day look like for the Lead Adjudicator?

You will:

  • Lead and manage the adjudication process for background investigations, ensuring that all DOJ personnel meet the necessary security and suitability standards before employment.
  • Assist and evaluate reports of investigations, and other records to determine individuals’ suitability for employment, ensuring national security interests are protected.
  • Develop, interpret, and implement policies and procedures related to personnel security and suitability, aligning with DOJ regulations and federal guidelines.
  • Serve as a liaison between EOUSA and other DOJ components, facilitating communication and ensuring consistent application of adjudication standards across the department.
  • Provide training and guidance to DOJ personnel on adjudication processes and standards, promoting awareness and compliance throughout the department.
  • Maintain accurate records of adjudication decisions and prepare reports for senior management, ensuring transparency and accountability in the adjudication process.
  • Assist in any other personnel security duties, special projects, as requested.

What qualifications do you look for?

You might be the professional we’re looking for if you have:

  • Authorization to permanently work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Active Secret clearance preferred (or ability to obtain)
  • Bachelor's degree with ten (10) years of experience or fifteen (15) years of relevant adjudication experience.
  • At least two (2) years’ experience adjudicating personnel security cases for the United States Government.
