Position Overview

We are looking for a full-time Attorney specializing in Trusts and Estates to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience in estate planning, estate litigation, and guardianship proceedings. This role offers an excellent opportunity for professional growth and the chance to work on complex and challenging cases in a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Estate Planning:
    • Draft comprehensive estate plans, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives
    • Advise clients on tax-efficient strategies for wealth transfer and asset protection
    • Develop customized plans for high-net-worth individuals and families
    • Assist with business succession planning for family-owned enterprises
    • Prepare and review prenuptial and postnuptial agreements
  • Estate Administration:
    • Guide executors and administrators through the probate process
    • Prepare and file necessary court documents for estate administration
    • Assist with asset valuation and distribution
    • Handle tax matters related to estate administration, including preparation of estate tax returns
    • Resolve creditor claims against estates
  • Estate Litigation:
    • Represent clients in will contests and trust disputes
    • Handle cases involving fiduciary misconduct or breach of duties
    • Litigate matters related to undue influence, lack of capacity, or fraud in estate planning documents
    • Negotiate settlements in estate-related disputes
    • Prepare and argue motions in court proceedings
  • Guardianship Proceedings:
    • Initiate and manage guardianship proceedings for incapacitated adults and minors
    • Prepare necessary documentation for guardianship appointments
    • Represent clients in contested guardianship matters
    • Advise on alternatives to guardianship, such as supported decision-making agreements
    • Assist guardians with ongoing compliance and reporting requirements
  • Client Relations:
    • Conduct initial consultations with prospective clients
    • Maintain regular communication with clients throughout their cases
    • Provide clear explanations of complex legal concepts to clients
    • Collaborate with other professionals, such as financial advisors and accountants, to serve clients' needs
    • Participate in client seminars and educational events
  • Practice Development:
    • Stay current with changes in estate planning and probate law
    • Contribute to the firm's knowledge base and internal training programs

Salary
  • $120 - $150,000
