Our Intern Program
Our Intern Program takes place over 10 weeks beginning Monday, June 2nd, 2025, and ending on Friday, August 8th, 2025. The Summer Intern Program includes the following:
- Business critical projects with the opportunity to produce high-impact work

Legal/Compliance Internship
Our Compliance and Legal teams are at the forefront of innovation and risk mitigation in a constantly evolving regulatory environment. Both teams must develop a thorough understanding of all aspects of the MW’s activities, including trading, investment decision-making and marketing, in order to render balanced advice to a variety of business units. The intern will work closely with a team led by the Chief Compliance Officer and General Counsel of Marshall Wace North America who is also part of the larger global Legal team and can expect exposure to both the Compliance and Legal teams.
The Compliance team performs routine monitoring, facilitates regulatory filings and strives to fulfill MW’s regulatory obligations in a variety of jurisdictions. Emphasis is placed not only on developing policies and procedures that guide MW but designing and leveraging cutting-edge technology to operate efficiently and effectively. The Legal team is responsible for all legal documentation within MW, including fund prospectuses, trading agreements and technology contracts. The team also analyzes MW’s regulatory obligations globally and provides advice on adherence.
This intern will support the day-to-day operations of the Chief Compliance Officer and General Counsel of Marshall Wace North America and her team, and responsibilities may include:
- Analyzing applicable regulatory developments through gap assessment and implementation;
- Assessing certain processes firm-wide and recommending controls and actions to optimize compliance monitoring and reporting;
- Reviewing legal documents, under the supervision of members of the legal team, for adherence to MW templates and current market standards;
- Collaborating with other teams to address potential organizational risks and opportunities for improvements;
- Participating in calls and meeting with both internal and external parties related to specific legal or compliance projects;
- Identifying topics for firm-wide education and creating materials; and,
- Developing strategies for streamlining complex processes and distilling complicated regulations for firm-wide implementation.
Qualifications
Students of all law, business, and undergraduate levels and areas of study are encouraged to apply. Successful applicants share some common traits:

- Interest in, and knowledge or exposure to, rules-based subject matter
- Ability to quickly learn new, complex subject matter and intelligently apply it to solving problems

- Hunger to join a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment that encourages intellectual curiosity
- Prior experience with financial products and markets (e.g., academic courses, prior internship at a financial company)
- Collaborative, team-oriented, “no task is too small” mentality
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Ability to work from New York office for duration of 10-week program.
