The Corporate Counsel advises and collaborates with AMN leadership and team members on a variety of issues, which may include (1) contractual agreements (2) litigation matters and disputes (3) investigations (4) compliance and ethics (5) external regulations or laws that affecting business practices (6) employment laws and HR related best practices
Job Responsibilities- Provide legal advice and guidance on a wide range of employment law matters, including hiring practices, employee relations, performance management, terminations, and compliance with federal, state, and local laws
- Provide legal support and advice to internal clients on a broad range of issues primarily related to compliance obligations and litigation risk mitigation
- Manage outside legal counsel engaged on matters requiring specialized knowledge or expertise; Manage outside counsel on litigation matters
- Develop and conduct training for internal stakeholders or business partners.
- Assist in responding to agency (EEOC, CA CRD, Labor Commissioner) charges and employment related compliance audits
- Develop self-service tools and provide general legal support for internal stakeholders or business partners on a variety of legal and compliance issues
- Support and provide guidance to robust internal ethics and compliance team as well as support for internal regulatory compliance efforts in all areas related to our business
- Provide legal support and advice to internal clients on a broad range of issues, including but not limited to general business law, employment-related laws, contractual matters, collection/bankruptcy matters, corporate governance, intellectual property, and compliance-related issues.
- Assist and advise internal clients at a senior level regarding litigation matters or other disputes with external clients, physicians, and clinicians.
- Handle outside legal counsel engaged by the Company on matters requiring specialized knowledge or expertise.
- Develop and conduct training for internal stakeholders or business partners.
- Assist department team members with AMN’s Ethics in Action program and activities or resources to promote AMN’s Core Values and commitment to ethics.
- Excellent time management, prioritization, and organizational skills with high work standards and attention to detail
- Flexible and adaptable to change and able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Minimum Education/Certifications:
- Bachelors’ Degree
- Juris Doctorate Degree
- Admission to California Bar or eligibility to register as in-house counsel in California
Minimum Experience:
- 3-8 years in practice
- At least 2 years focused on California employment law with a strong preference for knowledge of wage and hour compliance and litigation issues
- Deep expertise in pay practice compliance
Preferred Experience
- Experience in a public company, litigation experience and familiarity with unique compliance requirements of public companies.
- Work is performed in an office/home office environment.
- Team Members must have the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards.
