Job Description

This is a temporary position and there are no leave or retirement benefits offered with this position. Temporary employees who work an annual average of 30 or more hours per week may be eligible for health insurance coverage under the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP). This temporary position is located in Raleigh, NC - Wake County.


Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $24.34 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).

This temporary position will be assigned to the Department of Justice. This position is located at 1700 Tryon Park Drive.

Applicants will assist with the backlog of investigations of LEO, DAC/PPO, and DJJ officers of initial applicants or questionable separations of certified officers and bring investigated cases before the CJ Standards Commission.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

  • Thorough knowledge of the assigned work area program, processes, and procedures to include associated understanding of the applicable rules and regulations of the work area.
  • Thorough knowledge of criminal justice and law enforcement procedure, terminology, and policies and practices.
  • Thorough knowledge of research and standards applicable to the research or training area or project.
  • Working knowledge of human resources policies and procedures related to hiring, coaching, mentoring, performance reviews, and disciplinary actions.
  • Ability to interpret, apply, and communicate statutory regulations related to program area.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Graduation from a four-year college or university, preferably with a degree in criminal justice, sociology or closely related area, and four years of administrative or professional experience in criminal justice or law enforcement as it relates to the area of assignment; or completion of a two-year degree in criminal justice or closely related area, and five years of administrative or technical experience in criminal justice or law enforcement as it relates to the area of assignment; or completion of high school or equivalent and eight years of progressive administrative or technical experience in criminal justice or law enforcement as it relates to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
