Job Description

GEICO is seeking a highly skilled, motivated, and detail-oriented individual to lead a team of data analytics professionals in a large corporate legal department. This role requires strong expertise in analyzing both financial and non-financial data, conceptualizing and executing data-driven stories, and managing multiple large datasets. You will partner closely with technical and data governance teams to design and build data infrastructure and systems for efficient data processing and analysis. Role will also mentor and guide a team of analysts, advanced modeling techniques and statistical methods. Due to the sensitivity of the data, a high level of integrity and discretion is required to ensure confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities:

Analytical Leadership

  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to implement analytical solutions that scale, driving the development of analytics frameworks and ensuring best practices in data collection, storage, governance, analysis, and reporting.

  • Serve as the primary contact for complex data requests, prioritizing and delegating tasks to meet the needs of senior leadership and operational teams.

  • Work closely with Director, Legal Ops Strategy & Data Analytics and senior leadership to identify key problem areas, define project scope, and ensure alignment on deliverables and timelines.

  • Investigate operational performance issues, legal process disruptions, or client experience pain points using analytical models and statistical techniques.

Team Leadership

  • Lead and mentor junior analysts, fostering their technical and professional growth through coaching, training, and feedback.

  • Advocate for a data-driven culture, encouraging the adoption of analytical best practices and promoting a spirit of continuous learning.

  • Contribute to the creation of a knowledge-sharing environment, ensuring that the team is up to date on new analytical tools, techniques, and trends.

Business Intelligence

  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of Power BI dashboards to provide critical KPIs and performance metrics for legal executives and operations initiatives.

  • Communicate analytical findings effectively to non-technical audiences, translating complex data into clear business narratives and actionable recommendations.

  • Ensure data visualizations are accurate, user-friendly, and tailored for various audiences—ranging from frontline legal teams to C-level executives.

  • Deliver rapid insights on short timelines when urgent business questions arise, using advanced analytical methods where appropriate.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience working with large datasets

  • Well organized with good verbal and written communication skills

  • 4-year degree in Information Systems, Data Analytics, Computer Science or related

  • Minimum 5 years experience

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully plan, develop, lead, and execute projects, especially in an agile development environment

  • Preferred Corporate legal department or law firm experience

  • Preferred experience managing team of data scientists

Location: HYBRID - The individual will be required to work onsite in our Chevy Chase, MD location 3-4 days per week.


 

Annual Salary

$151,700.00 - $235,750.00

The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
