The Department of Consumer and Business Services (DCBS) is a progressive business regulatory state agency dedicated to the mission of protecting and serving Oregon's consumers and workers while supporting a positive business climate. The department administers state laws and rules governing workers' compensation, occupational safety and health, financial institutions, insurance companies and building codes. This position is with the Workers' Compensation Board (WCB). WCB provides timely and impartial resolution of disputes arising under the Workers' Compensation Law and Oregon Safe Employment Act.
This position is represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).

This position is eligible to telework on a part-time basis once the incumbent has gained the proficiency to perform work independently. However, regular, scheduled office hours are also required.
Here’s what you will do:
As the Litigation Coding Coordinator, you will ensure that data about all litigation orders issued by WCB and the Hearings Division are timely and accurately entered into the Board’s data system. Duties include:
Coordinating with WCB’s Information Management Division (IMD) to ensure accuracy and consistency of data, which includes processing edit/error listings, updating proof lists, maintaining WCB database coding guide, and advising WCB staff in data entry
Training support staff in processing of edit/error listings; directing, reviewing, and coordinating their efforts to assure accuracy and completeness
Reviewing daily final orders and settlement documents in closed case files for correct and complete information to extract data needed to make entries in the Hearings Case tracking system to record dispositions in workers’ compensation litigation
Resolving claim processing related issues daily by using varied reference books, experience, knowledge, software, and direct communication within WCB, WCD, and the Research and Analysis Section of ITR
Providing training on determining WCB litigation outcomes and reading/interpreting WCB closing data to other divisions in DCBS, and stakeholders who rely on claim information from the WCB database

Here’s what you need to qualify:
Minimum Qualifications:
Two years of secretarial or basic administrative support experience that includes records processing, generating documents, and gathering and sorting data
OR
An associate degree in general office occupations and one year of experience with records processing, generating documents, and gathering and sorting data
OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience
Requested Skills:
Ability to collaborate and share information
Ability to prioritize workload and multi-task
Outstanding attendance
Highly proficient in proofreading data for accuracy
Strong attention to detail
Experience with data entry and data analysis
Familiar with navigating various databases
Ability to work independently and prioritize work to meet various deadlines
Experience with medical and legal terminology
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills

Additional information:
Per the Pay Equity Law passed in 2017, a pay equity analysis will be conducted to determine what pay step the successful candidate will be offered. The analysis will be based on the relevant experience, education, training, and certifications documented in the application materials. On average, candidates new to state service will most likely be offered compensation in the lower to mid-level of the salary range.
The salary range listed is the non-PERS eligible rate. If you’re already a participating PERS member or once you become PERS eligible after 6 months of employment, the salary range will increase by 6.95% and the required 6% employee retirement contribution will be deducted from your pay.
