Position Type: Full-time

Pay: $62,000 - $73,000 per year, dependent on experience and education

Schedule: Monday to Friday 9-5pm; occasionally work on off hours if required

Job Overview

The Paralegal will be a key member of MassCEC’s legal team. In this role, the Paralegal will report to the Deputy General Counsel. They are responsible for various tasks, including managing intake and directing inquiries, reviewing grant agreements with attorney supervision, supporting legal services and operations, taking minutes, and responding to public record requests.  The ideal candidate will have experience in reviewing contracts, particularly grant agreements, and working with or for government entities.

 

Job Duties

The Paralegal will be required to assist the legal department with a full range of legal matters with attorney supervision as appropriate including, but not limited to:

Legal Department Coordination

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for legal requests, managing intake and directing inquiries to the appropriate legal team member.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding legal processes and procedures.
  • Prepare and deliver necessary materials to ensure timely and accurate responses to internal and external inquiries.
  • Support legal services and operations and assist with day-to-day needs of the legal department.

Reviewing Grant Agreements

  • Review grant agreements with attorney supervision.
  • Maintain template agreements.

Other Tasks

  • Provide timely responses to public records requests.
  • Take minutes during meetings of Board of Directors or committees.
  • Conduct some legal research for attorneys.
  • Other tasks as directed by attorneys within the legal department.

 

Position Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree preferred

Experience

  • 3+ years of professional experience.
  • Experience in contracts, particularly grant agreements.
  • Experience working with or for government entities preferred.
  • Experience in legal research and public record requests preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to obtain and review complex information and clearly articulate conclusions and associated recommendations and rationale.
  • Well-organized and detail-oriented with an outstanding work ethic; should be able to independently manage and successfully prioritize numerous projects under deadline pressure.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as an effective member of multi-disciplinary project and investments teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to develop practical solutions to mitigate risks.
  • Proactive, client-focused mindset.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
