Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is a leading international law firm with more than 900 lawyers in offices throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. We are currently seeking an Identity and Access Analyst in the Information Technology department, reporting to the Identity and Access Manager. 

This position can reside in the Boston, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia or Washington, DC office, with hybrid work capabilities and as a member of the Information Security team supporting a world-class law firm, the Identity and Access Analyst will play a critical role in the execution of the firm's Identity and Access Management (IAM) initiatives which include account life cycle management, workflow, governance, and policy development. The Identity and Access Analyst will work with various departments to facilitate the account onboarding/offboarding process, provision secure access to resources, as well as participate in IAM projects, audits, and training. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of basic understanding of access control, account management, and process documentation within a mature IAM program.

The candidate is expected to perform all responsibilities with a commitment to providing superior service to the firm’s clients, attorneys, advisors, and staff, and maintaining an atmosphere of teamwork and continuous improvement. Above all, the Identity and Access Analyst must fulfill the needs of the firm in a manner which is consistent with the Firm's Core Values.

Key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Work directly with various departments during the account life-cycle process to facilitate the creation, modification, and eventual deletion of user accounts, ensuring the appropriate level of access at all times.
  • Assist in controlling and monitoring access to privileged accounts.
  • Provide input during the development of various IAM strategies and assist in their implementation.
  • Effective stakeholder engagement and communication with various departments to align IAM practices with business requirements and security needs.
  • Provide input during and assist in policy creation for user access, password management, multi-factor authentication.
  • Facilitate the deployment and maintenance of IAM solutions, including single sign-on, external collaboration, and identity governance systems.
  • Assist and provide input during regular IAM audits, helping to ensure compliance and to detect unauthorized access.
  • Help identify IAM risks and recommend measures to mitigate them.
  • Adhere to system and operational protocols.
  • Provide input during the creation of standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain an awareness of and provide input on IAM processes and technologies helping to ensure continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Maintain a positive and collaborative working relationships with direct reports, peers, other IT personnel and other firm personnel consistent with the firm’s Core Values.
  • Handle all other duties as assigned by the Identity Access Manager or other firm management in a timely and productive manner.

Qualifications (Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):

  • College degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • Identity and Access Management, Information Security, or IT Operations background with minimum of two years’ experience preferred
  • Knowledge of information security technologies, principles, and practices related to privileged access management.
  • Working knowledge of Active Directory Azure and Active Directory (Entra Governance ID)
  • Working knowledge of Defender for Identity
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to read, comprehend and follow instructions
  • Ability to communicate with attorneys and staff in an effective, non-technical manner
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adjust to changing priorities in a professional manner
  • Willingness and ability to assume new tasks and responsibilities
  • Proven ability to maintain and update technical knowledge and skills
  • Strong service orientation, and an ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with users, peers, office and firm management, and outside business partners
  • Ability to work well under pressure, facilitate solutions, and meet deadlines/milestones for projects assigned

The base salary range for this position in California, New York and Washington, DC is $100,000 to $120,000.  Additional information about benefits and rewards can be found here.
