Job Description:

Join our dynamic Global Legal Organization at Johnson and Johnson as a Senior Counsel, Government Investigations & Litigation, located at World Headquarters in New Brunswick.  

This is a unique opportunity for a strategic, high-caliber legal professional with a proven track record in handling complex investigations and government enforcement at a senior level. As a key leader reporting directly to the VP of Global Investigations & Government Litigation, you will play a critical role in safeguarding the company by overseeing pivotal internal investigations related to US laws, industry standards, and internal policies, empowering you to make a meaningful impact on a global scale.

Key Responsibilities:

•            Lead, strategize, and supervise cross-sector internal investigations globally and domestically concerning allegations that implicate the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, the False Claims Act, the Food, Drug & Cosmetic Act, federal and state anti-kickback statutes, complex financial accounting and channel stuffing issues, and internal policies.

•            Manage and strategize on government investigations and litigation from United States federal and state agencies, as well as cross-border enforcement and litigation.

•            Respond to subpoenas and civil investigative demands from United States federal and state agencies, provide advice and counsel during dawn raids and government enforcement actions in jurisdictions outside the United States, particularly in LatAm. 

•            Lead certain investigations personally, by conducting interviews, reviewing documents and other materials onsite at various facilities.

•            Select, engage and supervise external investigative resources, including local and international law firms, accounting firms, etc.

•            Handle a wide range of unique and complex legal matters with significant impact to the relevant business, geographic and functional area.

•            Partner with other departments to conduct investigations and to improve processes and compliance efforts.

•            Draft concise and comprehensive reports of the investigations conducted.

•            Maintain and cultivate expertise in local and international developments in anti-corruption laws, as well as United States laws relating to the development, sales, marketing, promotion and reimbursement of Johnson & Johnson products.

Qualifications:

  • A Juris Doctor Degree and admission to and in good standing with at least one state bar is required.

  • A minimum of ten years of practicing experience as an attorney in litigation, with significant experience in conducting complex and sensitive internal investigations is required.

  • Experience as a lawyer with a relevant government agency responsible for corruption or health care enforcement related matters is preferred.

  • A demonstrated ability to advise and influence a range of business partners is required.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, with a proven ability to collaborate well with colleagues is required.

  • Must have consistently demonstrated sound judgment on legal and business issues and the ability to make complex decisions in legally ambiguous areas.

  • Some travel to North America and Latin America locations may be required.

  • Spanish/Portuguese language abilities is preferred but not required.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :

$173,000.00 - $299,000.00 USD

Additional Description for Pay Transparency:

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis. Employees and/or eligible dependents may be eligible to participate in the following Company sponsored employee benefit programs: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, business accident insurance, and group legal insurance. Employees may be eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)). This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s long-term incentive program.
