This vacancy is for a GS - 0963 - 7, Legal Instruments Examiner located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, NMC MARINER COURSE APPROVALS BRANCH. Duty station is located in Martinsburg, WV. .
Duties As a Legal Instruments Examiner, you will serve as a specialist in the MCP, providing technical expertise, guidance, and customer support for the missions of the Training and Assessment Division. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Managing all aspects of NMC's course documentation processes, including receiving and reviewing applications for courses, programs, designated examiners, qualified assessors, and instructors by researching the credentials of the applicants, entering the applications into the data system, and preparing certification requests. Maintaining a comprehensive and effective records management system, including curricula, qualified assessor, designated examiner, and instructor files. Maintains the Coast Guard's electronic course completion and curriculum submission System by ensuring information for each mariner is attributed to the correct mariner record. Reconciles data errors and approval language across three separate data systems. Reconciling contradictions, conflicts, and inconsistencies in certification request documentation and examination challenges. Communicating in writing via email and formal correspondence and telephonically with maritime academies, maritime training providers, other professional maritime organizations, other Coast Guard units, and the general public to advise on processes related to certification requests and examinations, including requests for reconsideration and appeals. Utilizing the Mission Management System (MMS) to ensure standardization and consistency of work. Recommends process improvement to the MMS in order to continually improve the Mariner Credentialing Program. Uses various standard and nonstandard computer software programs to accomplish the mission. Salary- $55,924 - $72,703/year
