Role Overview The Litigation Paralegal II performs a variety of duties to assist attorneys in accordance with the Firm's established policies and procedures. The Litigation Paralegal II will exercise discretion and independent judgment in the performance of the job duties. This position will maintain relationships with clients, observe confidentiality of client matters, competently perform paralegal duties, and keep accurate time records daily. Responsibilities Work closely with attorneys in all phases of litigation from case inception through trial. Manage lifecycle of assigned cases, including, but not limited to, document collection, workflow and delegation, and deposition and interview preparation. Assemble case binders, prepare correspondence, draft, proof and/or edit reports to clients; draft and maintain document indices. Maintain correspondence and pleadings, master file index and deposition files and database, Monitor case calendars and docket deadlines. Establish, organize, and maintain expert witness notebooks, documents, and indices. Attend and assist with depositions, witness interviews, court hearings and trials. Train legal assistants and litigation clerks on assigned cases. Utilize litigation support software applications to manage all phases of electronic document collection, review, and production. Assist with trial preparation, manage trial exhibits, prepare notebooks, maintain expert binders, travel to trial site and attend daily proceedings. Other assigned duties as needed. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent litigation experience required; Paralegal certificate preferred. Minimum three years litigation legal assistant experience with strong knowledge of case management including trial experience. Demonstrated knowledge of litigation software such as Relativity is required. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn the systems and databases used by the firm. Solid experience with case/matter management and/or other database tools and technologies used to manage data and information Expert research skills and proficiency in using various research tools, including the Internet and government websites Strong customer service skills, including writing and verbal communication skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to be a self-starter, while also comfortable taking direction from others. Ability to work under pressure, meet frequent and changing deadlines, and prioritize multiple tasks. Excellent attention to detail Ability to deal courteously and efficiently with attorneys, clients, administrative and support staff, and outside vendors and professional peers. Ability and willingness to work overtime and travel when necessary. Willingness to be a team player on all department projects. The role is based in our Palo Alto, CA office and requires a hybrid/onsite work schedule. The base annual pay range for this role is between $53.85 per hour - 58.97 per hour, which annualizes to roughly $105,000 - $115,000.The base pay to be offered will vary and depend on skills and qualifications, experience, location and will also take into account internal equity.
