General Summary
Provides administrative support, handling tasks like maintaining records, preparing documents, and assisting with litigation, while also potentially performing research and investigations.
Job Responsibilities:
- Receives, reviews, organizes, and facilitates the timely processing of Tort claims and FOIA requests
- Provides organization and management of case files.
- Reviews data for completeness of information, and proper execution.
- Extracts data from database.
- Conducts research and obtains additional information from other investigative agencies/data bases.
- Establishes and maintains physical file.
- Prepares notices/advertisements when required.
- Receives suspense petitions, claims, and processes requests.
- Reconciles inconsistencies.
- Provides on-the-job training for new data analyst personnel.
- Ensures data analysts personnel meet periodic training requirements.
- Provides on-site quality assurance and quality control of work performed by other data analyst personnel.
- Conducts validation and verification of case files in case data system.
- Reviews data and information from multiple sources.
- Establishes case/project files.
- Accurately enters and maintains comprehensive case files, ensuring organization and accuracy for legal proceedings.
- Leverages open-source intelligence (OSINT) tools, agency databases, and research methods to gather background information, enhancing case files and providing critical context.
- Collaborates with other federal agencies and/or other Deputy United States Marshals to obtain additional information, enhancing case analysis.
- Efficiently monitor and maintain an organized, clutter-free mailbox.
- Responds to status inquires.
- Drafts and mails acknowledgment letters in a timely manner.
- Drafts referral and rejection letters for the attorney advisor to review and sign.
- Mails decision letters to the appropriate party.
- Provides analytical and administrative support to the USMS Office of General Counsel division.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of common software programs, such as the Microsoft Suite and database research engines like Westlaw and LexisNexis.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
- Ability to work in a demanding environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance (if applicable).
- Ability to pass a background check and drug test as required by the federal government.
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Experience: Two (2) years of relevant work experience. (Preferably in a law firm or legal environment)
