Title:  Legal Assistant

 

Salary Range:  Commensurate with experience and qualifications.

 

Location of Work:  Oklahoma City, OK

 

The Oklahoma Office of the Attorney General is currently seeking a full-time Legal Assistant for the Consumer Protection Unit.

 

Job Summary: 

The Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Unit (CPU) is responsible for enforcing state and federal laws that protect consumers from fraudulent, deceptive, and unfair business practices. CPU attorneys engage in civil litigation to enforce the Oklahoma Consumer Protection Act, the Oklahoma Antitrust Reform Act, and statutes regulating telemarketing, data privacy, and price gouging. The Legal Assistant will assist CPU attorneys with the following duties:

 

  • Creating and maintaining electronic matter files by internal guidelines.

  • Supporting legal case management by organizing files, calendaring deadlines and meetings, assisting in preparation of pleadings, exhibits, and briefs, and tracking case progress.

  • Performing data entry and maintaining precise records of case-related information.

  • Conducting discrete legal and factual research assignments using online databases and resources.

  • Proofreading, formatting and finalizing correspondence, memoranda, briefs, and other legal documents.

 

Qualifications:  

Applicants must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Pro. Preference will be given to applicants with prior experience as a legal assistant or paralegal.
