Job Description

For over 50 years, Bet Tzedek Legal Services has provided high-quality, free legal services to Los Angeles’ most vulnerable residents. We are seeking a community outreach coordinator to lead Bet Tzedek’s coordinated service delivery program. In addition to co-leading housing education workshops with social service organization, this coordinator will manage the pipeline of referrals sent among Bet Tzedek, National Council of Jewish Women | Los Angeles Chapter, and Community Coalition, enhancing support for individuals in need of legal and social services.

This position is eligible for Bet Tzedek Legal Services’ hybrid/remote workplace designation. At the discretion of the immediate supervisor, the employee may be required to work in the office or other locations to meet workload/business obligations. This requirement may be on a temporary or ongoing basis.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Regularly meet with NCJW|LA and Community Coalition to discuss cases and strategize outreach efforts.

·       Co-lead “know your housing rights” workshops with NCJW|LA

·       Travel throughout Los Angeles County to join Community Coalition for neighborhood canvassing and door knocking

·       Create, maintain, and strengthen relationships with community partners, with supervisor’s support. 

  • Support coordination of pro bono involvement.

·       Conduct intakes to determine a community member’s needs and program eligibility

  • Assist Bet Tzedek attorneys by connecting clients to relevant social services and referrals, including those provided by NCJW|LA and other partner organizations.

·       Collaborate with NCJW|LA and Community Coalition to research and produce education materials, including, for example, presentations, trainings, and fact sheets, with supervisor’s guidance.

·       Work collaboratively with Bet Tzedek attorneys to create substantive housing rights presentations for case managers at social service organizations

·       Represent Bet Tzedek and/or the program at specific community outreach events

·       Collect, enter, and organize program data, including, but not limited to, workshop attendance, community members engaged through door knocking, education materials created, survey results, and program outcomes; and

  • Other assignments as deemed appropriate.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

·       AA/AS and/or BA/BS or equivalent work/life experience (required);


·       Minimum one-years’ work experience in community outreach, social work, community organizing, or a related field (required)

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders (required)
  • Demonstrated commitment to applying principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion in performance of job duties (required)

·       Microsoft Word proficiency (required)

·       Ability to multi-task and prioritize essential job duties, while maintaining organization and complying with administrative tasks, such as timely data entry (required)

  • Demonstrated commitment to Bet Tzedek’s mission to provide free legal services to those who need them most (required)

·       Bilingual and biliterate in both English and Spanish (preferred)

·       Experience entering data into a web-based application (preferred)

$60,121.39 -$65,397.20
