This is an entry-level attorney role in the Legal Department, reporting to a Senior Counsel or Associate General Counsel.


 

What You'll be Doing:

Provides legal advice to the business areas designated by first assistant (with approval of Senior VP-General Counsel) including:

  • Advise business teams on the legal implications of business decisions.
  • Draft, review and negotiate contracts related to the assigned business area.
  • Review, interpret and advise business teams on contractual obligations.
  • Monitor and analyze impact of pending and existing laws and regulations relevant to the assigned business area and communicate impact to the business teams.
  • Collaborate with team members in the Legal Department and other areas of the Company, as needed.
  • Develop training, processes and forms to support business needs and efficiencies.
  • Work with outside legal counsel, as needed.

What You Bring With You (Qualifications):

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited U.S. law school required
  • Michigan licensed or willingness to become licensed in Michigan
  • 2-3 years at a major law firm or large corporation providing legal advice regarding key aspects of real estate acquisitions, property dispositions, and strategic corporate growth initiatives
  • Ability to manage multiple internal stakeholders and balance differing opinions and perspectives
  • Proven success in managing multiple tasks and priorities
  • Strong verbal and analytical skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Highly team-oriented
  • Flexibility as to the types of projects assigned
  • Solid business acumen
