General Job Summary
Island Finance LLC is seeking a highly motivated and talented licensed attorney and notary for an entry-level, in-house position within the company’s Legal Department. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career attorney to gain hands-on experience across a wide range of legal matters. The Legal Department provides comprehensive legal support and strategic guidance to the company, handling issues including—but not limited to—contract drafting, negotiation and review, litigation, corporate law and governance, legislative matters, civil and administrative law, labor law, and employment-related issues.
Essential Functions
Performing due diligence in legal matters concerning contracts, agreements, and mergers and acquisitions
Draft, interpret, contracts of all types
Consulting and handling all corporate legal processes
Read, analyze and provide legal guidance on legal documents
Legal research and writing and guarding company against legal risks
Guide managers and ensure compliance with rules and regulations
Draft and review reports and other legal documents
Collaborate with senior attorneys to prepare cases for trial, including organizing evidence, exhibits, and case materials.
Draft corporate governance documents
Assist on policies developments and compliance
Review and indexing of files and records
Requirements
Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school
Licensed attorney and notary in good standing in Puerto Rico
More than one (1) year up to and including three (3) years
Fully Bilingual (English and Spanish)
Technical training in legal research specifically in legal databases.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word-Excel-Power Point)
Ability to think critically, quick problem-solving and decision making skills
Strong attention to detail, organization and time-management skills
Ability to adjust priorities in response to unanticipated events
Ability to manage and stay on top of a variety of projects in an organized manner
Ability to work efficiently and quickly, while maintaining good work product
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive issues with professionalism
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in teams, with employees at all levels and under pressure
